About
One mechanism per film. No faces, no hype, no sponsors.
THE FINE PRINT is a documentary channel about how money actually moves — the pricing rule, the clause, the exemption, the middleman nobody sees. Each film answers one question, works it back to the document where it started, and stops.
The name is the argument. The mechanisms that decide what things cost are almost never hidden; they are published, filed, disclosed and then buried in the volume of everything else that is published, filed and disclosed. Reading them is unglamorous and slow. That is the whole job.
How the films look the way they do
Every scene is a paper diorama: a world built out of aged newsprint, shot in warm sepia, with one burnt-orange accent and censor bars where a face would be. The look is deliberate. Money stories are usually told with stock footage of trading floors, and that footage tells you nothing. Paper does: it is the actual medium of the thing being described.
Charts and figures are not painted in by hand or hallucinated by a model. They are rendered from the checked numbers, so the bar on screen is the number in the register.
Disclosure: generative tools
The imagery and the narration are produced with generative tools. Every upload is flagged as containing synthetic media in the platform’s own disclosure field, and the films carry that marking on the channel. Nothing on screen is presented as documentary footage of a real event, and no real person’s likeness or voice is recreated.
What is not generated is the substance. Topics, research, the checking of every figure, the script and the final cut are human decisions, and the register on this site is the audit trail for them.
Funding
The channel is funded by platform advertising revenue. There are no sponsor segments, no affiliate links and no paid placements — including in episodes about companies whose products you can buy. If that ever changes, it will be stated on the episode page, not only in a spoken line.
